1. I was wondering what the project board format is for the science fair?

4. Are there any resources, such as university professors, or student researchers, which may help us with the projects?
   There are few contacts listed in the "How to conduct a science fair" handbook, that can be found on your Getting ready for AzSEF page.

5. Are there limitations on how many students, or which types of projects may enroll in the fair?
   There is no limit of how many students can be registered per school, or in what categories. We do however recommend that only the school winners register for our fair.

6. Are there any restrictions on the types of projects, or a pre approval requirement for projects involving human subjects, for example?
   Please check out our forms page for any pre approvals that might be required, based on a type of project that is being conducted. Please check out the rules and regulations handbook for any restrictions that might apply. You can find it on your Getting ready for AzSEF page.

7. Can students enter with joint projects? What if they are not in the same grade level?
   Yes, three students can join in a team project. They can be in a different grade levels as long as they are in same division. We have 3 divisions. Elementary division grades 5-6, junior division grades 7-8, and senior division grades 9-12

8. What regional fairs are there for students in the lower grades to enter?
   At this time we are not aware of any district or regional fairs for students in grades k-4.  It is our intention that in the near future we will host a k-4 fair in conjunction with the AzSEF as well as establish k-12 regional fairs throughout the state.

9. What grade levels are allowed to participate in Science and Engineering Fair?
   Students in grades 5-12 are allowed to participate in AzSEF. Students are divided into 3 divisions based on their grade level. They are elementary division grades 5-6, junior division grades 7-8, and senior division grades 9-12.

10. Where will the AzSEF be held?
    This year’s AzSEF will again be at the Phoenix Convention Center, in the South Hall, located between 3rd & 5th Streets, and Jefferson & Washington Streets. See our schedule of events for dates and times.

11. Will parking be provided?
    Parking is available in the parking garage across from the Phoenix Convention Center South Building. The parking garage is between 5th & 7th Streets, with entrance off Washington Street. This is a City of Phoenix parking facility, with fees charged for parking.

12. How can I avoid parking fees and traffic?
    We suggest that AzSEF participants use Metro Light Rail as a form of transportation to the Phoenix Convention Center. Closest Light Rail station is only few steps away from the main entrance to Convention Center. It is a lot cheaper and more convenient. See Light Rail map here.
    

13. Am I required to complete the on-line registration, or can I fill out a form and fax it in?
    All project registrations must be completed through the on-line registration process. No faxed registrations will be accepted.

14. When must projects be registered for participation?
    All students must have projects registered on-line by our deadlines. No exceptions will be made for accepting registrations after due date. Absolutely NO on site project registrations will be accepted.

15. After I submit my project registration on-line, can I make changes in the title or any other information?
    Students must make sure their title, category and all information is finalized before they submit their on-line registration for their project. No changes can be made to any information once the on-line registration is completed.

16. What if I make a typographical error in the spelling of my name or project title?
    It is critical that you proof all information during the on-line registration. No changes can be made once the registration has been submitted.

17. Why are we required to pay a $10 fee this year?
    This small registration fee is necessary to help offset some of the many costs associated with the AzSEF. It also documents the commitment of the students to attend per registrations made on-line for planning purposes. No refunds can be made once a registration has been submitted.

18. Can my teacher or parent check in my project for me at the Phoenix Convention Center?
    Yes, teachers and parents can check in students projects during the project check in days, however students will be required to check with us once they arrive at the center. Students not checked in with our staff will not be allowed in the judging hall.

19. Do I need to know my project number when I check in?
    Yes, please print a copy of your confirmation email & attach it to the back of your project board.

20. Are students required to be present on the day of judging?
    Yes, all students must be present for judging. See our schedule of events for details.

21. Can parents take students to the convention center for judging day if the teacher is unable to do so?
    Yes, parents may take students to the convention center on the day of judging.

22. What will parents do while waiting for their students during the judging time?
    Parents are encouraged to participate in the Shop Talk workshops that are available. These are designed for all adults who support students in their academic studies in science, mathematics, engineering and technology.

23. Will lunch be provided for students on judging day?
    Lunch WILL be provided for students on Judging day. It is strongly suggested that students do NOT leave the convention center.

24. Can I bring something to keep me busy on Judging Day?
    Yes, you can bring homework, books, or note pad for drawing. No Electronic devices allowed.

25. Can my sister stay with me by my project on Judging Day?
    No, only students participating in AzSEF are allowed in the hall on Judging Day. Siblings & other children CANNOT be left at the Convention Center without adult Supervision.

26. Are teachers or parents allowed to be with their students during the judging process?
    No teachers or parents are allowed to be in the judging area during the judging process.

27. What else should I know about Judging Day?
    Dress for Success! AzSEF T-shirts are allowed. Avoid clothes with holes and tears. Cloths should fit properly.
    Stand up and introduce yourself when judges approach you. Listen, answer questions, be polite.
    Be respectful of other student participants being judged near you.

28. Can I find out before the AzSEF Awards Ceremony whether I will be receiving any award?
    No information regarding awards will be available prior to the Awards Ceremony. It takes the AzSEF staff the entire day following judging to record the judge’s scores so a determination can be made as to which students will be receiving awards.

29. Are students and/or teachers required to attend the Awards Ceremony?
    Students are encouraged to attend the Awards Ceremony. This is where they will learn whether their project has received an AzSEF or any special award(s). They will also learn whether their school has won any awards.
